Ekodistrikt / Bio districts

Välkommen på lunchseminarium om ekodistrikt. I Italien finns 40 etablerade ekodistrikt och konceptet har spridit sig till ett antal andra länder. För att nå målet om 25% ekologisk areal till 2030 föreslår EU Kommissionen bland annat etablering av ekodistrikt i Handlingsplan för utvecklingen av ekologisk produktion, 2.4. Förstärka lokal och småskalig bearbetning och främja korta varutransporter.  I Sverige finns ännu inte något ekodistrikt, en av anledningarna till att MatLusts transnationella komponent nu erbjuder ett seminarium på temat.

Ett ekodistrikt är ett geografiskt område där jordbrukare, allmänhet, turistnäring, sammanslutningar och myndigheter ingår avtal om hållbar förvaltning av lokala resurser på grundval av ekologiska principer och metoder. Målet är att maximera områdets ekonomiska och sociokulturella potential. I begreppet ekodistrikt ingår livsstil, kost, mänskliga relationer och naturfrågor. Detta leder till att den lokala jordbruksproduktionen uppskattas av konsumenterna och därmed får ett högre marknadsvärde.

Under seminariet kommer vi få höra Salvatore Basile berätta både om det första ekodistriktet som han varit med och utvecklat i Cilento-regionen i syditalien sedan 2007, och om etableringen av ekodistrikt i olika delar av Europa och världen. Medverkar under seminariet gör även Sofi Gerber och Jostein Hertwig, initiativtagare till bildandet av Ekodistrikt Sörmland.

INFORMATION OM DE MEDVERKANDE

Salvatore Basile är ordförande för den internationella organisationen för ekodistrikt – International Network of Eco Regions (IN.N.E.R. Association) samt ordförande för Global Alliance of Organic Districts (GAOD).

Sofi Gerber är forskare och utbildare inom hållbart förändringsarbete med fokus på utveckling av matsystemen. Hon driver företaget Inspirationskraft AB och gården Nystugan i Bettna, Sörmland.

Jostein Hertwig är styrelseordförande för BERAS International och aktiv inom FN:s huvudinitiativ Organic Food System Programme och GAOD.

ETT INITIATIV FRÅN MATLUSTS TRANSNATIONELLA KOMPONENT
Inom MatLusts transnationella komponent söker vi i Östersjöområdet efter best practice och goda exempel. Till exempel hållbara affärslösningar för SME inom livsmedelsbranschen, bra tillämpning av lagen om offentlig upphandling (LOU) och egenkontroll (HACCP), samt initiativ för mer resilienta livsmedelssystem. Exemplen dokumenteras på MatLusts hemsida och sprids genom event.

BIO DISTRICTS

Welcome to a lunch seminar about Bio districts. In Italy there are 40 established Bio districts and the concept is spreading to a number of other countries. To reach the goal of 25% organic area within 2030 the EU Commission suggests establishing Bio districts in its Action Plan for Organic Production in EU, 2.4 ”Reinforcing local and small-volume processing and fostering short trade circuit”. No Bio district has yet been established in Sweden or any of the other Baltic Sea Region countries, which is one reason for this seminar, brought to you by MatLust‘s transnational component.

A Bio district is a geographical area where farmers, the general public, tourism operators, associations and authorities enter agreements on the sustainable management of local resources on the basis of ecological principles and methods. The goal is to maximize the area's economic and socio-cultural potential. The concept of eco-district includes lifestyle, diet, human relations and nature. This leads to local agricultural production being appreciated by consumers and thus having a higher market value.

During the seminar Salvatore Basile will talk both about the first Bio district he was involved in developing in the Cilento region of southern Italy, and about the establishment of Bio districts in different parts of Europe and the world. Also participating in the seminar is Sofi Gerber and Jostein Hertwig, initiators of the establishment of Sörmland Bio district.

Salvatore Basile is president of the International Network of Eco Regions (IN.N.E.R. Association) as well as co-president of the Global Alliance of Organic Districts.

Sofi Gerber is a researcher and educator in sustainable change with focus on the evolvement of food systems. She runs the company Inspirationskraft AB and the farm Nystugan in Bettna, Sörmland.

Jostein Hertwig is COB BERAS International and active in the UN core initiative Organic Food System Programme and GAOD.

In MatLust’s transnational component we are looking for best practice and good examples in the Baltic Sea region. Areas of interest are sustainable business models for SME in the food sector, innovative applications of public procurement and Hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP) and initiatives for more resilient food systems. Good examples are documented and spread via MatLust's website and events.
